  As a result of taking thyroid medicine for 13 years my bone density in my spine was low(-2.4) and the risk of having a fracture at age 61 years of age in the next 10 years was 20%. My doctor wanted me to start on medicine to repair this loss of bone density. My doctor had been monitoring it for many years and I could see the yearly decreases of bone density were 1 to 3%. I had been following the reviews on bone medicines and there were many side effects being reported. Where the bone scans of the people taking these bone building drugs were appearing more dense a lot of them were still experiencing fractures and the bone was thought to be brittle and breaking.
  I felt I had a little time to try something else. That something else was the BStrong4Life study that Dr. Perry Cammisa(Woodridge, IL) and Edward Hospital(Naperville,IL) as IRB were having. I was in the study for 39 months where I used the PowerPlate machine to exercise. This use of whole body vibration technology and the Biodensity machine for strength building was slowly reversing the loss of the bone in my spine. After another 21 months doing the program my spine is now -1.8. My hips improved from -1.1 to -.8. In the last 60 months I saw bone density improving instead of declining, I saw strength improving and I saw balance improving. I hope the medical community will see the benefit of this technology to repair bone, build strength and balance and not just automatically throw medicine at patients who are experiencing bone loss.
